Abstract

The blue economy has become a key strategy for sustainable development, especially for countries with large marine and coastal resources. It involves the responsible use of ocean, sea, and aquatic resources to boost economic growth, support livelihoods, and maintain environmental health. As global focus turns toward sustainable development, the blue economy offers significant opportunities for national progress through sectors such as fisheries, maritime transportation, tourism, renewable energy, and marine biotechnology. This brief review explores the scope of the blue economy and its role in national development, emphasizing its economic, environmental, and social advantages. The review also highlights challenges and policy considerations needed to unlock the full potential of the blue economy.
